MSNBC anchor and correspondent Ali Velshi will interview Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya during a session at SABEW’s annual fall conference at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.

Ulukaya came to the U.S. from Turkey when he was 23 years old on a student visa. Today, he leads the best-selling yogurt brand in the nation and creates jobs worldwide for people including immigrants and refugees.

Ulukaya started Chobani in 2005 and built it into a nearly $1 billion business in just five years — during the nation’s worst economic crisis in decades. In 2011, Forbes dubbed him the “Steve Jobs of yogurt.”

Under Ulukaya’s leadership, Chobani has grown from five employees to over 3,000 globally. Amid the company’s rapid expansion, Ulukaya has maintained a cohesive, contagious culture in his booming empire.
